The online music store Bandcamp continues its support of artists through “Bandcamp Friday”, giving music fans a 24-hour window to send money directly to artists and labels through purchases on the store.
On February 6, from midnight to midnight (PST), Bandcamp will waive its entire revenue share and pass all funds directly to artists and labels. Make sure to show your support on that day, since streaming services are not a viable income source for most indie artists. If it was not already obvious, a month of music subscription today is cheaper than what you would pay for a single full album back in the day.
If budget is tight right now, there are a few more opportunities in 2026 to take part in Bandcamp Friday:
- February 6
- March 6
- May 1
- August 7
- September 4
- October 2
- November 6
- December 4
In case you’re not familiar with Bandcamp, Bandcamp is one of our top recommended online stores for buying music and is home to many independent artists. On average, 82% of the revenue goes to the artist or their label, unlike most other stores that only leave around 70%. This Friday on Bandcamp, that share jumps to 100% for 24 hours.
Known as “Bandcamp Friday”, the initiative began during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and has since grown into a recurring event a few times a year.
