DEXCORE has shared the heartbreaking news that bassist TO-RU passed away on September 19. A private funeral was held with close family members, and out of respect for their wishes, the cause of his passing will not be disclosed.

TO-RU’s final performance took place on September 17 at RAZOR’s event, Kamisori Make in Akabane Maisou GIGS. The band plans to resume live shows later this month, carrying forward TO-RU’s dream of performing at a large venue someday.

We’ve translated DEXCORE’s Japanese announcements into English, which you can find below. Please take a moment to read what the band shared about this sudden and tragic event.

Bassist TO-RU first joined DEXCORE in the summer of 2007 with previous guitarist haku before leaving the band at the end of 2020. TO-RU then re-joined the band in 2023 for the band’s single Savior and stayed as a permanent member until his passing.

To all of DEXCORE’s supporters

On September 19, DEXCORE’s bassist TO-RU passed away.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the fans who supported him warmly, and to all the staff and related parties who took care of him during his life.

The funeral was conducted in the presence of close family members in accordance with the bereaved family’s wishes. Out of respect, we will refrain from disclosing any details. We also ask that you respect the pain and grief they are experiencing and refrain from making speculative comments or publishing any information. Instead, we kindly request that you offer them support.

The sudden news comes as a shock to the other members and staff, and they are overcome with deep sadness. However, DEXCORE intends to honor TO-RU’s wishes as “DEXCORE’s biggest fan, despite being a member”, by continuing the band’s activities and fulfilling his dream of playing a large venue someday.
