At the stroke of midnight, going into March 10 in Japan, the GazettE published the full music video for the song “Falling” from their upcoming spring album. The album now has a name, and a release date too; “NINTH”, which is indeed the band’s ninth full studio album (discounting compilation albums), will be out on June 13, 2018, and will come in four editions. Its release will be followed by a nationwide tour, named PHASE #01 -PHENOMENON-.
In the first moments after the release of the new music video on the GazettE’s official site, the amount of traffic it brought crashed the entire website. It was a struggle for a couple hours to get it to load properly, but now it is accessible again, and the visually stunning music video is there in its entirety for your enjoyment!
The dark visuals of DOGMA are now gone, but the band’s familiar sound remains somewhat unchanged.
In this release, the GazettE completely abandon the overarching dark and cultish concept of PROJECT: DARK AGE (encapsulating DOGMA, UGLY and UNDYING). The music video for Falling is visually reminiscent of perhaps Derangement, with its jarring neon color scheme and an overabundance of red hues. Yet musically, Falling is nothing similar.
With this song, the GazettE enters a completely new conceptual era, but retains the characteristic sound that they have been polishing since DOGMA. Falling smoothly combines hardcore elements like screaming and wailing guitars, with clearly electronic undertones, and still manages to tell a very touching story about one couple’s untimely demise. In its twisted nature, the story is to a point utterly romantic.
We have translated the song’s lyrics for our readers who wish to better understand Falling‘s touching concept. We are, naturally, no match for Ruki’s lyrical genius, and thus we must disclose that some of the translated lines might be somewhat interpretative in nature.
Since then how long
Do you know how long it’s been?
Let’s dive into the bottom of chaos ; Now ; So that we can be intertwined
Falling down
Deep into the darkScreams unwound and distorted the past ; Deviated Mind
I covered my eyes, which were obstructed by a haze
Stuck in my head ; I go mad, corrupted by ghosts of the past
Where do I start? These thoughts rooted in the depths, they may be a swelling contradiction, but
These thoughts rooted in the depths, they are the shadow of my former self in loveScream Even if below rejection there is neverending anguish
Writhe As you now saw yourself, in the days spent lost in lethargyWe just believe in ourselves to die
I know you were the same
Embracing the same pain ; we are breaking
We may shatter into scattered pieces
To be reborn again
I’m gonna fallScreams unwound and distorted the past ; Deviated Mind
I covered my eyes, which were obstructed by a haze
Stuck in my head ; Jarring noiseInside me
Something’s changing
I see an ending
Take it all in
I’m gonna fallGaze upon the disappearing sadness
We just believe in ourselves to die
I know you were the same
We embrace the same pain ; in vain
Don’t forget ; This is not the end
So open your eyes, let’s fallWe just believe in ourselves to die
We can be broken
