XaaXaa has announced a venue-limited mini-album titled Raku na Shinikata (楽な死に方), which translates to “Easy Way to Die”. Set for release on June 28, the physical edition will include a limited edition 16-page photo book.

A teaser video, now available on YouTube, offers a preview of all six brand-new tracks. As vocalist Kazuki introduced it on X, “Listen to this and live”.

The lead track, Tobioritara, opens the teaser with jangling distortion and an eerily captivating melody; classic XaaXaa, but with creepy new flourishes we haven’t heard from them before. This catchy intro flows into Kubitsuri Date (“Hanging Date”), a track that blends XaaXaa’s signature despair and heaviness with a touch of dark humor. It’s unmistakably XaaXaa, but with an updated edge that whets the palate for more.

Next comes Oyasumi, a track carved with visceral screams and a crushing weight—an instant standout for fans of heavy vocals and brutal breakdowns. It serves as a powerful midpoint, anchoring the mini-album before it shifts course.

The teaser gradually transitions through more ominous layers before ending with the title track, Raku na Shinikata. Surprisingly gentle and bright, the finale contrasts sharply with the preceding darkness. It offers a cathartic close, like a final exhale after sinking into the depths, underscoring the album’s emotional arc.

We’re hoping this venue-exclusive release eventually becomes available digitally or sees a general release. Until then, fans can enjoy the haunting new artist visuals unveiled alongside the announcement. The styling nods to their previous single Kumo no Ito (“Spider’s Thread”), with yarn embellishments evoking spider silk. This time, the imagery deepens: white outfits evoke purity and innocence, while red rope nooses around their necks recall themes in Kubitsuri Date. The heavy-handedness of the yarn stitches, matched with chunky ropes, is both childish and jarring, perfectly aligned with the new mini-album’s duality.
