The anime adaptation of the trashpunk manga Gachiakuta has confirmed Paledusk as the performers of the opening theme, titled HUGs. This marks the metalcore band’s first-ever anime song.

Gachiakuta creators Kei Urana (story, art) and Hideyoshi Andou (graffiti art) requested Paledusk to write the song. Urana-sensei, in particular, has openly expressed admiration for the Fukuoka band.

Paledusk has previously collaborated with notable Japanese artists, including MASATO from coldrain. This high-energy single captures the chaotic atmosphere and post-apocalyptic setting of the manga, building strong hype among fans.

HUGs will be officially released via streamming on July 28. CDs will be released on September 17, featuring a total of four tracks. A sample of the song can be heard in the anime’s promotional video below.

About Gachiakuta

Gachiakuta is a shonen action manga written and illustrated by Kei Urana and including graffiti designs from artist Ando Hideyoshi. The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine since February 2022. Kei Urana was an assistant of Atsuhi Ohkubo, famous for his Soul Eater and Fire Force series. Gachiakuta feels like its spiritual successor.

The story follows Rudo, a boy from the slums of a dystopian world, who sets out on a path of revenge after being falsely accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Thrown into the “Abyss” by the authorities—a nightmarish realm filled with monsters born from the discarded trash of the upper class—Rudo must fight to survive. Along the way, he encounters the Cleaners, an organization of elite warriors who battle these grotesque creatures using powerful weapons known as Vital Instruments.
