On June 12, kein released the music video for Hajou (波状), the closing track from their upcoming EP delusional inflammation, out July 9 via King Records. This marks the band’s second major label release, and it’s already shaping up to be a powerful follow-up to their major debut EP, PARADOXON DOLORIS.
The title Hajou evokes the steady undulation of ocean waves, and the track lives up to its name in both feeling and sound. Emotion surges through the video, peaking in sorrow before crashing into a wave of aching melancholy. Propelled by a soft-pulsing rhythm and ghostly melody, Hajou moves with the force of a tide, immersive and unrelenting. There’s a hypnotic quality to its ebb and flow, inviting you to replay it again and again.
Interestingly, kein chose this track—delusional inflammation‘s closer—as the lead for their music video rollout. It’s a bold move, but a telling one: the song’s fluid, resonant qualities may hint at the EP’s emotional arc, drawing listeners back to the beginning in a seamless cycle. Something about starting on such a vulnerable note makes me want to sink my teeth into the new EP even more.
