the GazettE has shared three unreleased tracks in unfinished demo form, along with their lyrics on the official website. At the request of the members, the recordings were selected from an album that was still in production and feature the songs “声”, “愚鈍の桜” and “異端”. The demos will remain available for a limited time, with no specific end date mentioned.
These demos represent more than just a glimpse of the band’s unfinished work. They reflect the GazettE’s determination to share something meaningful with their fans, even under difficult circumstances.

The announcement follows a difficult period for the band, particularly after vocalist RUKI was hospitalized in September 2026 following a sudden collapse. In a subsequent personal statement, RUKI explained the circumstances behind the decision to make the three demos public and revealed that the idea came to him while hospitalized, at a time when his condition had deteriorated significantly. His immediate concern was finding a way to deliver the music they were currently working on to their fans.
RUKI went on to explain that, ordinarily, he wouldn’t want anyone to hear something that hadn’t reached a perfect state, describing this as a matter of personal pride. However, when RUKI seriously considered the possibility that he might no longer be able to share what he genuinely wanted to express through his music, he realized how deeply he would regret it. With the other members’ help, he was able to put his honest feelings into the recordings and, while still recovering, shape them into demos that he could share with fans to the best of his ability.

The lyrics, in our subjective interpretation, seem to carry a considerable amount of pent-up emotion, as though there were things that had been held back for a long time and were finally finding their way out. This is particularly apparent in “声” (“koe”, meaning “voice”). Although the lyrics are primarily in Japanese, a few lines in English already convey this feeling especially well: “I had no choice but to say I was okay / I couldn’t find a way to save myself”. By the end of the song, this feeling comes through again in the line: “I rose up, and let my voice sing again”.
The decision to share something unfinished carries particular significance, in our opinion, given the GazettE’s longstanding emphasis on artistic presentation and perfectionism when conveying their worldview to fans. Long-time fans may remember the lead-up to album DOGMA and the surrouding releases, which together formed an immense creative project to pull off. So rather than maintaining their usual polished image, the band has now chosen to share unfinished recordings that expose a considerably more vulnerable and personal side of their creative process and themselves.
A difficult chapter for the GazettE
The difficulties surrounding the band did not begin with RUKI’s hospitalization. The passing of bassist Reita in April 2024 marked the beginning of a difficult period for the GazettE, with the loss taking an emotional toll on the members as further setbacks began to affect the band’s activities and future releases.

In March 2025, the GazettE teased a new project titled “THE WINTER”, accompanied by promotional material suggesting an upcoming release. The promotional image featured crossed-out text reading “2024 RELEASE NEW ALBUM”, hinting that an album had originally been planned for 2024. However, the band never explicitly confirmed that THE WINTER itself was an album, and no concrete release announcement followed.
The winter spanning late 2025 and early 2026 also passed without the anticipated release materializing. In March 2026, the band announced the departure of guitarist Aoi, with the remaining members stating that previously scheduled releases would be reviewed before further details were provided. Aoi, however, disputed the circumstances of his departure, maintaining that he had voluntarily left the band in September 2025 and denying the allegations made against him.
Further uncertainty followed in September 2026, when vocalist RUKI was hospitalized after suddenly collapsing and losing consciousness on September 23. In his latest statement on X, RUKI indicated that his condition was gradually improving as he continued his recovery.
Drummer KAI also spoke back in September 2026 about the mental strain the members had experienced over the preceding years. He described it as an unprecedented burden for all of them, one that had also placed considerable limitations on their ability to continue with music production and band activities. He went on to explain that RUKI, who had faced these difficulties with particularly strong resolve, saw his condition worsen to the point of collapse, leaving the other members deeply concerned.
Against everything the band has been through, the release of the three demos means more than simply offering fans an early preview of unfinished material. It reflects the members’ continued commitment to their music and their fans, even under difficult circumstances.
