Japan’s leading ladies in heavy metal, Mary’s Blood, has announced a break in their current activities from April 2022. They will be holding their last live performance at Toyosu Pit, Tokyo on April 9, 2022, before heading away on their well-deserved time off. Each member has written a comment for their fans regarding the hiatus:
Vocalist EYE:
Announcing a hiatus probably doesn’t give you the best feeling, but to put it another way, I feel like this is the free time you have when you go on a school trip.
Guitarist SAKI:
I experienced a lot with Mary’s Blood, from nationwide tours to overseas shows and a lot of other things… You made so many of our dreams come true. I hope we have been able to repay you in some small way.
Bassist RIO:
In the 5 years after I first moved to Tokyo, I hadn’t made any progress in joining a band. I wanted to run away from it all. But I couldn’t bring myself to go home after making my mother cry by leaving in the first place.
That’s when I found Mary’s Blood.
Drummer MARI:
It pains me to say that we will be entering hiatus, but we will continue to work hard and come back better than ever. So I’d be happy if you could continue to support us.
While unfortunate news, you can relish their recent exhilarating release, the self-titled album Mary’s Blood made with ANIMETAL producer Yorimasa Hisatake. Fans can expect the last show to deliver excitement and energy like this performance of Marionette from the Re>Tribution TOUR 2021.
Notably, one member is still rocking along as guitarist SAKI is currently an active member of NEMOPHILA. Yet as the other members’ future is unclear, we wish them the best of luck in future endeavors.
