DIR EN GREY makes its box office debut with a live concert film, slated to hit Japanese theaters this fall. This live concert film features footage from their Berlin concert, the last stop on their Europe tour “FROM DEPRESSION TO ________ [mode of Withering to death.＆UROBOROS]”.

This tour marked the band’s return to Europe after four years, kicking off in Poland on March 19, 2024, followed by shows in France, England, and Germany, totaling nine performances across four countries.

Though this film will only be screened in Japanese theaters (as far as we know), DIR EN GREY also announced two upcoming physical releases this fall. Read on for more information.

For those playing along at home

First, the band plans to release a vinyl version of their major debut album GAUZE. This is sure to make record collectors happy, as the 1999 original pressing of GAUZE was extremely rare, often selling for over $500 (USD). It was originally pressed on colored vinyl; one red and one blue. We wonder if that same color scheme will make a return for this next pressing!

Second, DIR EN GREY will release concert footage featuring the domestic tour series focused on the band’s 11th album, PHALARIS. A series of nationwide Japan concerts promoting the album started on June 2, 2022. It seems like this release will feature a selection of live footage from the collective tours.

All the details, including the release date and the nationwide record store preorder schedule, will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, DIR EN GREY has also unveiled the promotion edit music video for their latest single, 2024’s The Devil In Me. It seems to tie up some loose strings from the 15-second teaser clip, released earlier this month. Check it out below.
