On January 13, LUNA SEA’s frontman Ryuichi Kawamura shared personal information concerning his health in a blog post. The singer revealed that he had to undergo surgery for lung adenocarcinoma (a type of cancerous tumor) on January 11.
Ryuichi later elaborated on the subject saying “This operation was a partial removal” and it seems there’s no necessity of postoperative radiation treatment, or anti-cancer drugs, as it is still a small tumor. He was told his lung capacity should remain more or less unchanged which was something that worried the singer due to his profession. Finally, a very positive Ryuichi stated he will put on the best performance he’s capable of in order to not have any regrets and thank his fans on the continued support.
On January 15, Ryuichi published on LINE a post titled Thank you (ありがとう) in which he provided an update on his health noticing his breathing has improved. He further gives thanks for all the positive energy received from the supportive messages coming from staff, seniors, juniors, and people inside and outside the industry.
I'm praying that you get well soon. @RYUICHIofficial#LunaticFest 2018 #lunasea #紅 #kurenai #ryuichikawamura #yoshikihttps://t.co/1LQg3PBI2C pic.twitter.com/04USTP9SY5

On his most recent blog post from earlier today, Ryuichi said that the pain is starting to fade away and he is able to breathe even better now. Doctors have told him it is better to walk as much as possible to restore the function of the lungs rather than lying in bed. So he’s been actively going for walks and feeling considerably better.
From JROCK NEWS we are very concerned about Ryuichi’s health and want to give him all our positive thoughts during his recovery process.
