SID seem to be venturing into their own projects! Last year, SID’s bassist AKi went solo, and now vocalist Mao will be doing so as well! He already has his debut date set up and everything; he will officially commence his solo career on June 22, when his first single, titled Tsuki / Hoshi, goes on sale. The single will be available in three different editions, each containing different goodies. the regular edition will be CD only, while the other two editions will include a DVD alongside the CD. Also, since there are a few well-known Mao’s in the visual kei scene, Mao’s official solo name will be Mao from SID, to avoid any confusion.
Furthermore, in order to promote his single, Mao will be having in-store events all over Japan starting May 3 until June 19, just a few days before his single goes on sale.
Some have been worrying and speculating whether all these solo debuts mean SID is on the verge of disbanding. However, both Mao and AKi have stated that that is not the case, and that they are most definitely not disbanding.
Are you excited for Mao’s solo debut? It will definitely be interesting to hear what kind of music he will be performing, although going by his attire in the image above, I can only guess he will be focusing on singing ballads. What do you think?
