In June, EUPHOBIA, a new metal band with striking black and white visuals, debuted on X. EUPHOBIA touts five members and describes themselves as “Black Metal/Blackened Deathcore”. The band’s debut was followed swiftly by their first single and music video, entitled “INSOMNIA”, which premiered on June 21.
The lineup features vocalist Natsu (亡憑), ex. NINTH IN PLUTO guitarist Yosuke (遥祐), guitarist sei (静), bassist and composter SHIYAO (尸妖), and drummer Neo (音烏). A series of introduction posts on EUPHOBIA’s social media accounts promoted each band member individually, featuring links to each’s X and Instagram accounts. Although debuting only this month, the band’s X account has already surpassed an impressive 1,500 followers.
New fans didn’t have to wait long to hear EUPHOBIA’s music. Only three days after the first post, EUPHOBIA detailed their plans for the upcoming summer: three singles in the next three months! The band’s first release, “INSOMNIA”, debuted on YouTube on June 21, while their second and third singles, “FROSTBITE” and “WILL”, are coming July and August respectively. Currently, the single is only streamable on YouTube, with “technical problems” causing issues with subscription services and downloads.
So while waiting for the Spotify and Apple Music releases, watch “INSOMIA”‘s music video! Maintaining the black and white aesthetic, the music video features a long introduction with glitchy visuals and distorted speaking. Once the music kicks in, however, shrieking screamo and siren-infused instrumentals deliver on the band’s promise of “Blackened Deathcore”.
At the time of writing, EUPHOBIA has no live shows planned, but keep an eye out on the Schedule tab of their website! In addition, they also have a shop section—perhaps a sign of plans for upcoming merchandise?
