On August 2, D=OUT released their latest digital single, Aikagi (愛-aikagi-鍵), now available digitally worldwide. Shimmering, clean, and melodic, the track captures the wistful mood of late summer, stirring feelings of romance and nostalgia. With the upbeat playability of a pop song and the emotional pull of a ballad, it feels made for a live performance.

While the Japanese word “aikagi” typically means “duplicate key” or “master key” (合鍵), the band adds a poetic twist, writing it with the characters for “love” (愛) and “key” (鍵).

Anticipation for the single has been building since April, when hints of new music first emerged with the single SYOUDOU. For Aikagi, D=OUT unveiled a refreshed visual style, embracing cool blue tones that offer a welcome contrast to the sweltering August heat.

The band is also preparing for a busy slate of live performances in Japan. After a string of fan club-exclusive shows in August, D=OUT will headline a special concert titled “D=OUT Chou Bunka Sai” at Shibuya aube on September 19. Then, starting in November, the group embarks on a member-curated circuit tour, with each show themed by a different band member. For example, vocalist Kouki will spotlight the golden era of ’90s visual kei, while guitarist Hikaru is set to explore the world of Pop Stars.

Check out D=OUT’s refreshed look below, and see how it reflects the mood of Aikagi.
