A masked five-member visual kei band YATANO KAMEN (八咫ノ仮面), the likes of which no one has ever seen or heard of before, has suddenly appeared! Their mysterious debut reveals nothing about them identity-wise, that is, apart from wearing crow-inspired masks and traditional Japanese attire.
However, what is revealed comes in the form of their light-soaked, laser-filled music video for the song KIBOU (祈奉). Performing on a grand stage, the members emotionless, faces concealed, and gender unknown, they make an impactful first impression.
YATANO KAMEN creates an aggressive, thunderous, and deep sound that, when combined with the vocalist’s high-pitched vocals, throaty growls, and distinctive screams, makes for an intense experience.
The music video for KIBOU is described in its video description as:
A story of identity, loss, and the light we search for in the shadows. Even in the darkest moments, hope never dies.
An excerpt taken from the lyrics exemplifies the story:
Tearing through the heavens to fly into eternity
Even shrouded in sorrow, hope never dies
Every line cuts like a blade.
They are already making their presence being felt by celebrating the grand opening of the littleHEARTS. Hibiya Okuroji popup shop on April 4, 2025, with setting up a shrine.
There are still many questions as YATANO KAMEN has announced no tour dates, no release announcements, and no interviews. What does the future hold for such a band? Let’s wait and see!
