NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST has today—which is currently September 1 in Japan—released its destructive single THE ONE. Described as a work that flaunts the technical prowess of each band member, THE ONE marks the first single featuring the new quintet lineup!

Compared to NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST’s releases from last year, such as the mini-album The Wasteland and the three singles, THE ONE is a lot more enigmatic. A whole lot more complex and unpredictable due to its unusual arrangement and distinct sections. It also fluctuates between genres, shifting from melodic and progressive metalcore to symphonic death metal. However, it is exactly because of this we get to see what the new lineup is really made of!

Each section gives an opportunity for individuality to shine, and as a whole—expressed through the band’s own words—this is “precisely NOKUBURA”.

Personally, as an admirer of drums, I’d have to say that drummer Natsu outdid himself this time around! Throughout the single, he plays in such a deviant, destructive, yet composed way, making the drums in and of themselves, an orchestra.

In 2018, NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST had both of its guitarists Cazqui and Daichi leave the band due to issues concerning financials. A year later, the band invited guitarist Lin (formerly in abstracts) to join and at the same time, published a sarcastic song called “Thank you”. However, due to Lin’s arrest for possessing cannabis, he only remained a member for less than half a year.

The band returned once again with a new lineup in October 2020, announcing the arrival of guitarists Valtz and Yu-taro—bringing us to the present lineup of today.
