After L’arc-en-ciel surprised with a soon-to-release anime theme song “Forever” for EDENS ZERO, the band throws in another punch with the new single “Mirai”! This makes it their first new song in about four and a half years and it is featured as the theme song in the opening movie for “Blue Protocol”, an action online RPG game for PC.
Mirai is available in four physical formats, including a version with a VR app. Although the single won’t be fully ready until August 25, the title song itself has been pre-released on digital stores and streaming platforms.
But to top it all up, a short version of the music video has been unveiled. In there, we can see the band walking in a dark tunnel, marching towards the light, towards their Mirai (future). There is a special reason why the band chose to film at this exact spot too, that is because the architecture is called “Tunnel of Light”, created by Ma Yansong/MAD Architects. By the end of the 750-meter tunnel, you will be met by an incredible view of the Kiyotsu Gorge.
The song Mirai offers such a delightful listening experience through the atmospheric and galactic sound. It metaphorically feels like floating in space. And as always, the expressive vocals by singer HYDE adds a whole new layer to the piece, elevating the lyrics while bringing synergy between all the elements.
As the song is featured as a theme song for the action online RPG game, Blue Protocol, there’s an animated version of the music video too. Here is the 30-second rendition:
