With mysterious countdowns on members’ social media channels, the wait is finally over with the announcement of a new visual kei band, DRUGS, featuring fan-favorite visual kei members from DADAROMA and Mejibray.
The lineup consists of vocalist Tsuzuku from Mejibray, guitarist TAIZO from Yakouchu (夜光蟲), bassist Shindo Wataru from Hitotonari (ひととなり), and finally assigned the new role of drummer, Yoshiatsu, vocalist of Fukuro (梟) and DADAROMA.
Neon lights, grotesque imagery and disorientating video effects showcases DRUGS’ visual style in their debut music video NEW ORDER. Encased in a neon rope, the spotlight is aimed at a rope artist in an outlandish interior, breeding an erotic yet unsettling mood. NEW ORDER‘s music video is overflowing with disturbing imagery like this, ranging from blood spills, skulls with pentagram symbols to unidentifiable toxic substances. Serving as the soundtrack to this distressing scene, is a bed of inhuman screams, obscure guitar riffs, and trashy drums. DRUGS’ NEW ORDER is visually shocking, but only the beginning; expect more mind-bending tracks to challenge the psyche in the future.
For any fans located in Japan, DRUGS are also holding their first ONEMAN show, titled “THE DRUGS” in December.
