The THIRTEEN is determined to keep us on our toes with the release of their fourth mini-album ALONE, scheduled to drop exactly six months after their previous release on April 24. Their latest video gives us a taste of each song on the upcoming album.
From first listen, the album is more diverse than perhaps first expected, exploring the depths of lonesomeness while also traversing the far corners of modern visual kei musical styles. The album starts off with Siren, a mellow exploration of Mao’s vocal range, previously showcased in a music video preview. Akujyo is an immediate contrast with its active and playful melody. Sinister Design drops weight into the album in heavy guitar riffs, while alone without equal slows the pace with its listless crooning melody and soft falsetto harmonies. last period. is decidedly upbeat and A Matter of Life and Death is a live-worthy powerful ending ballad, rounding out the album. In all, ALONE delivers some incredible material for live shows as well as listening when you are, well… alone!
This album comes out just in time for The THIRTEEN’s 2019 tour, Stairway to Heaven, kicking off on May 4. A full schedule is available on the official website.
