From left to right: guitarist Matsu, vocalist NANA, and bassist Taichi.

Please introduce yourself to our readers!

NANA: JROCK NEWS, congratulations on 10 years! We are GUNGIRE! Let’s go! I am NANA on vocals.

Taichi: I’m the bassist, Taichi.

Matsu:ย I’m the guitarist, Matsu.

NANA: Together, we are GUNGIRE! Thanks for having us!

JROCK NEWS, it’s your 10th anniversary. Ten years is pretty long, isn’t it? You’ve have been working hard for a long time. You’ve released a lot of videos, which we’ve seen a lot of, too. We’re happy to be here celebrating your 10th anniversary with you, thank you!

Have you performed overseas? What was the experience like?

NANA: GUNGIRE hasn’t performed overseas yet. Ah, wait, have you [Taichi]?

Taichi: No, no, no!

NANA: How about you [Matsu]?

Matsu: Not with GUNGIRE, but I have performed overseas before.

NANA: So there you go, GUNGIRE hasn’t actually performed overseas at all! We want to take our shows overseas, though, right? Where would you guys like to go?

Taichi: America.

Matsu: Germany.

NANA: I personally want to go to lots of places, but I haven’t really been to Asia much, even on vacation, so I’d like to play in Asia! If we do, we’ll be counting on you, JROCK NEWS!

Could you share a pivotal moment in your musical career?

Taichi: Yeah, it has to be that. At the end of last year, we played our first-ever solo show.ย It was really hard, but a lot of fun, right?

NANA: It was. Also, not long before our show, we released our first music video, Encrypted, on YouTube for everyone to see. We’re still an indie band, so we’re not that well known, but the music video brought more people to our solo show.

We want to make more music videos, so first, we’ll continue making new music while we play lots of live shows! Come see us!

As JROCK NEWS celebrates its 10th anniversary, would you like to share any thoughts?

NANA: This will be a pretty personal note, but Laura from JROCK NEWS has been a big help to GUNGIRE. If you’ve been to any of our concerts, events, or our solo show, you will have met Lauraโ€”a lovely, unforgettable English girl.

Laura, thank you for always helping us out. We’d love to have you keep helping us in future! Thank you now and always!

Matsu: I am actually also part of JROCK NEWS, so I’m looking forward to continuing to work with you all.

Taichi: Take good care of us.

NANA: We [Taichi and I] are new here, but here’s to the future!

Please share a message to the overseas fans.

NANA: Although we haven’t performed overseas before, it seems like a lot of people around the world have heard of GUNGIRE. We play at the venue Shinjuku Antiknock often, and we’ve had people tell us they’ve come from America to see us, out of nowhere. Places like Texas. It’s pretty surprising.

Even before we released the Encrypted music video on YouTube, there have been lots of people who’ve found us. So we’d love to make it overseas, or for you to come and see us live…

I know it’s pretty hard for people so far away to come and see us, but these days, you can watch videos online, or connect with us on X or Instagram, so we’ll do our best to bring you content there.

What projects or upcoming activities are you currently working on?

NANA: We released our latest EP, Outlive, in June earlier this year! We’ve been playing a lot of songs from Outlive at our shows; it’s still fairly fresh, so if you haven’t listened yet, or if you’re in Japan and have listened but don’t own the CD yet, you can pick it up at our merch table at shows. Please come and see us, grab a CD, and for those of you further away, listen to us on streaming services!

Matsu, as a member of JROCK NEWS, please share a closing statement!

Matsu: JROCK NEWS, congratulations on your 10th anniversary. I hope JROCK NEWS and GUNGIRE continue to have a good relationship.

Taichi: Thank you JROCK NEWS, I read a lot of your articles online about other bands, but I hope to see even more GUNGIRE news there in the future too! Congratulations on 10 years!

NANA: JROCK NEWS, many congratulations on your anniversary! We’ll keep working hard towards our own 10-year anniversary and beyond alongside you, so make sure you keep your eyes on us!

Read JROCK NEWS and listen to GUNGIRE! Thank you and see you soon!
