On November 11, THE LAST ROCKSTARS unveiled the full music video for their second single, Psycho Love, while announcing the departure of guitarist MIYAVI.

The release holds special significance, aligning with the second anniversary of the supergroup’s formation in 2022 by YOSHIKI (X Japan), MIYAVI, HYDE (L’Arc-en-Ciel, VAMPS), and SUGIZO (Luna Sea, X Japan). Psycho Love marks MIYAVI’s final release with the band. He is moving on to focus on his solo music and acting careers, as well as other personal projects.

MIYAVI shared his thoughts in a personal statement, which we have translated into English below.

MIYAVI:

November 11th.

I’m sorry for the surprising announcement regarding the band. I think maybe some of you knew something was up from last year.

I really loved the time we four got to spend together.

I learned a lot from everyone, and of course, I still have a lot of respect for them.

We didn’t have a big fight or anything, so don’t worry. Actually, I wanted to fight more. I wanted to clash.

“Rock the world.”

I was really committed to making this project happen too.

Taking on the world isn’t something you can do half-assed or in your spare time.

Everyone has things they need to protect, and honestly, I felt it was difficult to continue to push onwards considering that.

I already told the other members, but

I wish we had met as kids and formed a band together.

I wanted to fight so much more.

They’ll always be my beloved big brothers who I greatly respect.

It’s not my place to say this, but this project is a combination of amazing artists, so I hope they continue to take good care of it moving forward and know I’ll always be rooting for them.

Thanks for the wonderful views.

Yoshiki, HYDE, Sugizo, I’m so honored to have been able to rock with you all.

Love you all,
The Last RockStars!!!!!!
M

MIYAVI’s departure from THE LAST ROCKSTARS appears to be amicable, as reflected in the band’s warm farewell. The official announcement expressed gratitude and encouraged fans’ continued support for both MIYAVI and the group, striking a bittersweet yet heartfelt tone.

This may not be the end of MIYAVI’s collaborations with his former bandmates. On X, YOSHIKI extended an invitation to MIYAVI for dinner to discuss a potential collaboration on a future album.

We wish MIYAVI and THE LAST ROCKSTARS the best as they move forward, and we are confident that the bonds they’ve built will inspire more musical collaborations in the future.
