On September 10, 2023, Versailles released an official statement on YUKI’s departure from the band. Versailles initially gave notice of the drummer’s departure earlier in the year. However, YUKI recently decided to retire drumming altogether. He came to the decision to retire as a result of his dystonia interfering with his performance.
You can read our translation of the official announcement below.
In February of this year, YUKI announced his suspension of activities as drummer within the year. On this occasion, we have received notice from YUKI of his retirement. It is with great regret that we announce that the December 14 performance at Zepp Haneda will be the last live performance of the current roster. Although there is a short time remaining for the “Japanese Visual Metal Tour” (starting on September 22 and ultimately for the final stage of the current roster on December 14 at Zepp Haneda), we would like to prepare a farewell floral arrangement for YUKI. We wish YUKI the best in all his future endeavors and hope for your unwavering support for Versailles.
Versailles being a pivotal band in the visual kei scene, it is saddening to hear of YUKI’s retirement. YUKI will be missed dearly by fans and bandmates. Since the announcement, fans showed an outpour of support and well wishes for the drummer.
Don’t miss out on the last opportunity to see the full Versailles lineup on the “Japanese Visual Metal Tour” and “CHATEAU DE VERSAILLES”. YUKI’s last performance will be at “CHATEU DE VERSAILLES” at Zepp Haneda on December 14.
