The Japanese Edo-inspired metal band Kaishin no Ichigeki (快進のICHIGEKI) shows promising new activities with the announcement of an upcoming EP, Richigo (粋狂)! After their disbandment in 2015, the band only recently returned for a one-day revival concert after a seven-year standstill. Drummer Yuichi mentioned at the time of the concert that “it might not be the last time” that we would see them, and it looks like he was right.

From what we know so far, the audio-related content is done but the artwork is still work-in-progress. The band plans to release the EP sometime this fall and calls it the greatest work they’ve done so far. Once everything is starting to come along, Kaishin no Ichigeki expressed that they’ll make a proper announcement.

In related news, Kaishin no Ichigeki held yet another concert on July 23 with the purpose of making it into a music video. How and if it ties in with the EP is still unknown, but one thing is for sure, they’ve been working hard lately despite not having made a formal return. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the band went ahead and scheduled a three-day consecutive concert that takes place on November 18, 19, and 20 at Tachikawa Live Bar Heart Beat.

Kaishin no Ichigeki consists of four members, vocalist Kota (from nekomanju), guitarist Hisao, bassist Jun, and drummer Yuichi. The band was formed in 2004 and officially disbanded in 2015. With inspiration from the Edo period, they’ve established a unique oriental metal sound that truly hits you with a blow.
