Young anisong singer ReoNa is ready for the release of her fifth single Nai Nai on May 12. This time around, the vocalist lends her soothing voice for the ending theme of the anime adaptation Shadows House. ReoNa’s shadowy silhouette visuals for the single lend inspiration from the gothic style anime. However, we will have to wait until April 10, when the anime premieres on TV, to hear a short version of the single for the first time.
Nai Nai is available for pre-order in a regular, limited, and limited anime edition. The regular edition features four tracks including an instrumental version of the title song. The limited edition adds a DVD with the music video for Nai Nai, and a photobook contained in a tall digipack case. Lastly, the limited anime edition includes; a different third track, replacing Ikiteru Dake de Erai yo with the alternative track Ashita wa Hallelujah; and a DVD with the non-credit video from the anime. Its cover artwork also features an animation inspired by the anime Shadows House.
You can now enjoy the TV version of ReoNa’s Nai Nai in the non-credit video featured in the anime.
In the visual department, ReoNa gets inspiration from Shadows House in both her promotional photos and the artwork for the single as we see the vocalist posing with her own shadow.
Shadows House shows the lives of a group of shadows who wear aristocratic clothes and live in a mansion. Each faceless shadow employs a living doll to serve them. The story follows living doll Emilyko as she learns to provide servitude to Kate Shadow.
ReoNa debuted under Sacra Music as the singing voice of the character Elsa Kanzaki in the anime series Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online. Her first single under her own name, titled Sweet Hurt, featured as an ending theme in the anime Happy Sugar Life. This is followed by a rise in popularity with Sword Art Online tie-in songs forget-me-not, Niji no Kanata ni, and Anima. All three songs are included in her debut album unknown released in October 2020. ReoNa’s most recent release is a collaboration with producer Hiroyuki Sawano titled time for the newest season of the anime Seven Deadly Sins.
