Vocalist ASAGI and his band D are doing their part to aid Australia, which was devastated by bushfires that started last year and raged into the new year.
ACACIA -Pray For Australia- and Hard Koala are limited singles which will be released on May 8. Both singles feature the title track and an instrumental version. Additionally, the CD sleeves are printed on responsibly harvested paper, certified by the FSC. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to WWF Japan for the conservation of wildlife and nature affected by the disaster.
What’s more, they’ve also pre-released the singles on digital platforms on April 6—the date of their 17 anniversary. Likewise, 70% of revenue from downloads and subscriptions will automatically be donated to WWF Japan. This is a great alternative for those unable to purchase physical copies but still wanting to support the admirable gesture. You can also help to spread the message, or proudly display your support with the hashtag #あなたの1再生が自然と命を救う (Your 1 play saves life naturally) on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
ACACIA-Pray For Australia- is a melodious ballad beautifully composed of both acoustic and electric guitars, the piano, and ASAGI ‘s magnificent voice. It’s a song with a warm and powerful message wishing for revival.
The name Hard Koala is a playful spin on the Japanese word for “hardcore”, while the song features a blend of ASAGI’s strong vocalization, intense instrumentation, and the Australian didgeridoo! It’s an interesting combination of sounds with fun but meaningful lyrics.
In more related news, D has also established a system to donate to live houses in Japan. This comes in response to the COVID-19 crisis, which has severely affected the music industry as a whole. Songs from the band’s previous catalog are linked to specific venues. This time only 10% of the revenue made from purchases and subscriptions will automatically be donated to live houses they’ve performed in. Also, the band just announced which song corresponds with which venue. Check out the cool map they’ve created, and share the news with #D and #LiveHouseNeverDie on social network services!
Update 2020-05-07: The release date of D’s two singles was postponed and will arrive on May 8 instead of April 29.
