An interesting collaboration has come to us by the hand of veteran guitarist MIYAVI, and singer DAOKO who contributed to the viral song ME!ME!ME!. Both talented musicians have partnered up in the creation of Senkyaku Banrai (千客万来), the theme song of the upcoming movie Diner.
This week they presented a music video full of beautiful visuals, lots of neon lights, and group choreographies. The video starts with both artists dressed up completely in white and performing back to back under the rain. We can also see them dining under each other’s gaze, especially MIYAVI who is feasting his carnivorous eyes.
MIYAVI builds up the song while awaiting DAOKO’s vocal entrance. As the guitar halts, the singer attacks with a strong rap verse, then, following the sound of a snap, the chorus has DAOKO turn 180 degrees and brings her sweeter type of voice that is accompanied by electronic sounds, and adorned with little touches of MIYAVI’s futuristic guitar beats.
Senkyaku Banrai can be found in MIYAVI’s upcoming long-awaited album NO SLEEP TILL TOKYO coming out next month, on July 24.
The movie Diner which the song Senkyaku Banrai is featured in is directed by Mika Ninagawa, based on Yumeaki Hirayama’s novel of the same name. It tells the story of Kanako Oba, performed by Tina Tamashiro, who ends up working at a membership-only restaurant while searching for a job. The business is run by a mysterious character who ends up serving outlaws at his diner. This mysterious person is performed by no other than Tatsuya Fujiwara, who also played in thriller movies such as the Japanese Death Note, and Battle Royale.
