lynch. are soon to release their album XIII, or “thirteen”, on July 11 and have revealed the music video for the jazzy, sinister sounding fifth song, JØKER. The name continues the theme of the “ø” vowel which replaces “o”, for example, SINNERS -no one can fake my bløod- and of course, the song BLØOD.
The performance of the song is led by the band playing in a hall with their silhouettes shown under a white sheet that soon becomes distorted. There is definitely a strong sinister circus vibe here, both in the sound and visuals, and it wouldn’t be one complete without weird goings-on as it features twin girls in white who turn into clowns. There is also a tricycle that moves on its own and a fire performance, setting our screens ablaze with their mesmerizing spinning tricks.
It has guitarist Yusuke’s and Reo’s upper body on an apparatus as if it sawn in half, and vocalist Hazuki with a cane and eyepatch, looking like the personification of a circus ringmaster. It should be noted that the coffin on his eyepatch is the same one from U.R.G.E.—which is Hazuki’s jewelry brand.
In saying that, Hazuki himself stated on Twitter that the making of this music video was born from the idea of using the circus as a motif. He also mentions that Marilyn Manson was an influence that struck with him.

In the past, lynch. have created similar songs such as GHOST and the start of ILLUMINATI from album D.A.R.K -in the name of evil, GUILLOTINE from album GALLOWS, and DEVI from single MIRRORS. I’m personally unsure of JØKER being the main image song for the album, but we’ll just have to wait until it comes out!
