The always charmingly enigmatic and hard to classify Gesu no Kiwami Otome released a video for a new song, Mou setsunai to wa iwasenai, on May 11, to commemorate the sixth year of the band’s formation. The tune, a follow-up to January’s single Tataka te shimau, has boatloads of virtuoso piano and dextrous bass playing in the group’s usual accomplished style all supporting a liltingly romantic melody. The video itself features plenty of evocative nighttime bicycle action that makes you hope for a happily ever after.
As part of their reengagement with the music scene this year, the band appeared on a May 12 episode of MTV Unplugged, which will be rebroadcast on May 20. The setting is a perfect venue to showcase their quasi-classical-cum-jazz chops and idiosyncratic approach to modern rock.
