It’s unfortunate, but perhaps unsurprising; BOOM BOOM SATELLITES will be disbanding effective immediately due to the after effects of guitarist Michiyuki Kawashima’s brain tumor, for which he relapsed for the fifth time last year. Kawashima has been diagnosed with paralysis, and has subsequently retired from the music industry, and is reported to now be living peacefully with his family. Their final release, LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME, will be their final release, which goes on sale on June 22.
Masayuki Nakano states that while it was unfortunate that the duo were not able to release their tenth album, this EP does give a sense of fulfillment that leaves the band a sense of closure.
While it is sad to see a band go like this, at least both members are still alive, which is the most important thing above all. Here’s hoping both members continue striving through life, and be successful in their future endeavors.
