girugamesh Reveals Album Preview of “chimera”

girugamesh’s highly anticipated album chimera was made known to the world when the band announced it back in summer 2015, for the entire time being we’ve been left out of the blue, of what the album would sound like. However, with the newly revealed album preview, uploaded today onto their label’s YouTube channel, there is now a 1 minute and 40 second video for you to digest. The album preview contains snippets of the chimera‘s first six tracks, in other words the A-side, so we still don’t know what course the remixed version of gravitation will take on.

Something easily noticeable after listening to the preview, is that chimera doesn’t exactly follow the footsteps of the previous album that closely, or at least in the way I expected it to. Parts of it are a lot more heavy, but it seems like that made it lose its essential essence, of what actually made gravitation so great. In contrast, Horizon, a song straying towards the pop genre took a complete U-turn. Don’t get me wrong though, the preview does sound promising.

Even if I’m skeptical towards the new sound, I still think this album will provide a great listening experience. Although, from the looks of it, I’ll most likely be a bit disappointed of the fact that this long awaited album, wont be able to top one my personal favorite album of all time, gravitation.

In case you missed our previous coverage, the new album will get two release dates. meaning that we’ll see a European edition as well, although limited in quantity. Get your hands on this beast starting January 20, and in Europe February 5 via GAN-SHIN Records‘ outlets.

Update: The European edition will offer all the original tracks from gravitation (not remixed), while the Japanese versions will include a remixed track.
