So we previously reported that ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s RE: RE  will being used for the new anime series called ERASED (also known as BokuMachi, short for “Boku dake ga Inai Machi” (僕だけがいない街)). This anime has already started and is available on crunchyroll for streaming since January 7. What surprised us was that this 12 year old song has been re-recorded by AKFG for this animation. (RE: RE: re-recorded joke anyone?) If you decide to watch this anime, the first episode ends with this classic song but is intended for it’s opening. Check it out the new version of RE: RE: below.

Just listening the new version makes us smile by how much they have changed and improved. It’s a strange feeling for us to prefer the new version, and it’s very obvious from the introduction they have refined and polished this track that it leaves us with a very satisfied feeling. What do you think about this? Leave comments below.

RE: RE: is their top song right now!

In other news, the 2002 version of RE: RE: is currently number one on AKFG’s iTunes page, and we’re not surprised by this. If they decided to release this new version we’ll absolutely buy it! (Update: They will be releasing a new version in a single)

We should note that this show has been animated by A-1 Pictures, which a friend of ours used to work at, so double the excitement! We highly recommend this show, so go to crunchyroll and see what the fuss is about!
