amazarashi『穴を掘っている』“Digging Holes”

amazarashi’s new music video “Digging Holes”, from their second album Yuhi Shinko Higashizumu released October 29 was shot in the area of  “Suicide Forest”, Aokigahara. Aokigahara is known for its high suicidal rate, reportedly, the most popular place for people to end their lives, in Japan.

In the near entrance of the forest, a sign was put up by the Suicide Prevention Association in hopes to prevent people to commit suicide, by reminding them of their family and loved ones. It states:

Your life is a precious gift from your parents. Please think about your parents, sibling, and children. Don’t keep it to yourself. Talk about your troubles.

There are cases where people drag a trail of tape/string in case they get lost, those are the people who still hesitates whether to end their lives or not.

It’s a quite horrible place, still it’s a big and beautiful forest which continues to attract tourism in certain areas. When seen halfway up from Mt.Fuji, you’ll be able to observe the forest as a green sea, this is why the forest is also known as “Jukai” (Sea of Trees).

Video description:

This is an installation art in suicide forest, printing out tweets which says “I want to die”. Installation “Lonely Crowd System”:

Searched the result of “I wanna die” on Twitter and using our own algorithm, analyzed each 200,000 result and designed the layout with words from those tweets.
Printed them out from 30 printers which were placed at a sea of forest in Shizuoka prefecture in Japan.
