Fresh off their 18th anniversary concert at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall, Matenrou Opera has released the music video for their latest single, AGONY. The single will be sold exclusively at live shows and on Matenrou Opera’s official webshop.
AGONY features three tracks: the title song in both its original and instrumental versions, along with the B-side Another Christmas. The initial preorder period through the official webshop has ended, but general sales are set to begin at 12:00 JST on August 15, available while supplies last.
Premiered on August 10, the AGONY video reflects the single’s darker, more dramatic tone. Musically, the track blends cinematic grandeur with the band’s trademark high-energy precision. Its opening swells with a soundtrack-like intensity, giving way to a powerful mix of blast beats, an ethereal choir, and strings. Despite its density, the arrangement remains sharp and cohesive, delivering a layered listening experience that reveals more with each play.
Matenrou Opera’s new look reflects AGONY‘s intensity, with dark, rich textures and intricate layering. Like their latest single, the new visuals pair soft textures with sharp edges, reflecting the essence of this release.
