The visual kei project MASKED launches MASKED 2026, built around the idea of visual kei being “unbound, unlimited, and free”. The project focuses on celebrating the scene through a large-scale live music festival centered in Tokyo’s Shibuya district.
This year’s edition spans two days across three venues in Shibuya: Spotify O-EAST, Spotify O-WEST, and duo MUSIC EXCHANGE. By bringing together bands across all generations in a single coordinated event, MASKED aims to showcase the breadth of today’s visual kei scene, from established acts to emerging artists. International fans can also get updates and content via their official English X (Twitter) account.
The 2026 lineup showcases a new era of inclusivity and experimentation. Alongside long-established leaders, MASKED 2026 features next-generation acts such as Kumori Nochi and Superknova, representing a younger generation experimenting with the sound and aesthetic traditions of visual kei. Their appearance on the main stage marks a defining moment that links visual kei’s golden past with its evolving future.
