Despite only debuting in June, DRUGS has been moving exceptionally fast, finishing 2025 with a total of seven singles. The latest, “Flesh and Halo” and “CARVED IN ALMA”, were released on December 30.
DRUGS debuted in June with the single “NEW ORDER”, introducing the world to a new, heavy, and disorienting visual kei ensemble. Including fan favorite band members from the visual kei scene, the spotlight was instantly set on DRUGS. The lineup consists of the highly recognized vocalist Tsuzuku from Mejibray and drummer Yoshiatsu of Fukuro (梟) and DADAROMA. As well as less familiar faces, guitarist TAIZO from Yakouchu (夜光蟲) and bassist Shindo Wataru from Hitotonari (ひととなり).
Ever since, fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for new music. In the final month of the year, DRUGS certainly have not disappointed with a release of six brand-new singles in rapid succession. The first, “UNTIL I DIE” released December 3 offering fans more of the sound they became addicted to.
December 15 saw three more singles released: “Echoes of the Hidden Self”, “Shi, Seisatsu” (死、省察) and “THE LIBRA”. Shindo Wataru demonstrated bass prowess on “Echoes of the hidden self” with addictive bass lines underlining the punk composition. Another side of DRUGS was heard in “Shi, Seisatsu”, a highly emotional and melancholy track with Tsuzuku’s tearful vocals tearing a hole in our hearts. Named after the zodiac sign, “THE LIBRA” again has us hooked with hypnotic guitar riffs by TAIZO. The scales of justice that represent Libra can also be found outlined in neon purple on the single cover, highlighting the band’s attention to detail with single releases.
Yoshiatsu, which most will recognize as the vocalist for Fukuro (梟) and DADAROMA, is settling in well with his new role on drums. This is best heard on the final two singles of the year, “Flesh and Halo” and “CARVED IN ALMA”, released December 30. For fans wanting to hear a heavier side to DRUGS, these two singles have you covered. Chaotic arrangements bombarded with Tsuzuku’s extreme animalistic screams are a perfect end to the year.
DRUGS also couldn’t resist the urge to perform live, with their first performance on December 19. Fans could finally get intoxicated from the electric atmosphere of a DRUGS performance, while also getting a preview of some currently unreleased songs. A second show is also scheduled for February 17 for any fans in Japan.
2025 has been an incredible year for DRUGS and their many fans. With almost an album’s worth of songs and a dedication to performance, 2026 is looking extremely exciting.
