On November 23, GUNGIRE premiered their first music video, Encrypted, at midnight (JST). The single of the same title will debut on December 7, coinciding with their first one-man show at the legendary venue Shinjuku Anti-Knock.
A flickering screen shows the band out of focus before guitarist Matsu intros the hard-hitting tune with masterful pick work. Dramatic framing and changing camera angles culminate in vocalist NANA’s opening shout and slamming instrumentals, setting the pace for another hard-hitting track. Close followers of the band will note a rather serious tonal shift in the band’s music. This is the same great sound with a deeper feeling now.
The upcoming one-man show will surely be a great leap into the band’s promising future. Keep your ears to the ground for the release of Encrypted on December 7.
In case some faces look familiar to you; you might recognize NANA as the guest vocalist for the steampunk metal band, FATE GEAR, while support drummer sujk is known for taking part in the visual kei metal band DELUHI. Guitarist Matsu played for the metal band FAKE ISLAND in the past.
GUNGIRE’s also comprises bassist Taichi, and additionally, guitarist “ysk” who currently is on hiatus.
