Jrock fans in the west may have attended anime song and visual kei-themed nights out. But have you ever heard of an emo night in Tokyo?

That’s precisely what Emo Night Tokyo intends to do, bringing western emo music to Japanese nightlife. This is a place for like-minded fans to meet and build community, much like other nightlife subcultures. Emo Night Tokyo hosts its next event on December 16, its seventh installment with a seasonally-geared Christmas theme.

The show on December 16 hosts three bands—original artists Tibetan Sky, and cover bands Faveriot and sadbois. Six DJs keep the dancefloor packed all night long spinning everything from emo classics to ’00s rock.
