Ever dreamed of making it big in the next superstar boy band? “Nothing is impossible”, YOSHIKI says.
Rock legend, composer, and producer YOSHIKI seeks to create the next superstar boy band. In collaboration with Nippon Television (NTV), YOSHIKI launched an innovative new boy group audition project called “YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X“.
When YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X launched in March, it received over 1,000 applications in a single day. Due to popular demand, the application period has been extended and will re-open on Monday, April 11, at 12:00 (JST). Boy band hopefuls may apply solo or as a group until Friday, May 20, 2022 at 23:59 (JST).
Any age or nationality is welcome to apply!
Although YOSHIKI is considered a visual rock band icon, the upcoming group could be anything from a dance or hip-hop group to a bandâin short, YOSHIKI seeks to create a stylish and edgy “genre-less group”.
Winners of YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X will not only be produced by YOSHIKI but will also gain access to some of his most valuable contacts. Using resources such as voice trainers and fashion experts, he plans to assemble the strongest team possible.
YOSHIKI expressed his vision for the group saying, âI have a feeling two different groups may debut; a dance and vocal group and a band.” He also said, âAfter meeting applicants in person, my ideas may changeâand in that sense, this audition is a collaboration of applicants and us.â
YOSHIKI expressed his wish to help upcoming artists and take them under his wing.
Comment from YOSHIKI
Iâm so honored to receive this offer from Nippon television.
âNothing is Impossible.â
Since Asia is recently in the spotlight, Iâd be happy to present to the world a new “most powerful genre-less group.â
If thereâs a world map to show the power of the entertainment industry, Asia has been rapidly expanding in recent years.
Itâs been a while since I moved to the States, but I believe there are many wonderful artists here in Japan.
Unlike in the old days, the door to the world can open instantly, and I feel that there are more opportunities for Japanese artists than ever before.
This project was launched with my desire to contribute to the upcoming generation.
I can give advice from my years of experience, and I am hoping to grow together with the group as a global active artist.
You may relate YOSHIKI as a visual rock band icon, but the coming group could be a dance or a hip-hop group – not necessarily eccentric, but a stylish and edgy “genre-less group.â
In order to compete globally, the group must be the âvery bestâ and that goes without saying having passion and hard work is a must.
On top of that, there has to be something extra that shines.
Iâm confident to identify such talent and aura.
I want dreams to be truly infinite.
I want you to believe in your own potential more than you do today.
Let’s go global, together with me.
I’m looking forward to meeting you all.
We canât wait to see how YOSHIKI approaches the applicants, the criteria he uses for selection, and finally, what kind of a boy band he will produce.
This competition series will be aired on âSukkiriâ and âGyoretsu no dekiru sodanjoâ (NTV) and also streamed on Hulu.
