We have good news for BUCK-TICK fans outside of Japan as we’re finally getting attention from the legendary band! Our friends at JPU Records are releasing an international edition of their latest album ABRACADABRA in the form of a CD and limited edition cassette. This is spectacular news as it’s their first international release in their 33-year career. Most of our writers aren’t even that old yet, so that’s really saying something.
The international edition will be out on November 20 and features new CD album artwork that was only previously available for the Japanese release of the limited edition cassette. This isn’t the only special feature of the album, as four bonus tracks will also be included. What makes these additional tracks so special? Well, the single version of Moon Sayonara wo Oshiete, Kemonotachi no Yoru, Datenshi, and Kogoeru have never been available in a physical format outside of Japan before, and so they’re pretty elusive to obtain. It’s super exciting and this edition is a must-have for any diehard BUCK-TICK fan.

- The Japanese CD edition of “ABRACADABRA”.
The creation of this album was not exactly a smooth ride when the pandemic happened midway through the recording. Alike many artists who have been taking inspiration from the extraordinary circumstance they’re in, the virus has left its impact as track 13, Eureka.
“Coronavirus interrupted the recording of this album for around a month. During this time, I was composing music by myself at home. When I strummed the A chord to F#m on my guitar, tears began to well up. I kept going with that feeling and Eureka was made.
Coronavirus has made it difficult to hold concerts in Japan, much like the rest of the world. So, I think these kinds of performances that are broadcast live across the internet will increase, it’s something overseas listeners can partake in and experience us in a way they may not have been able to before.”—Imai.
It’s incredible how the pandemic has left its mark on the creative world and we hope this album, and especially Eureka, will reach out to listeners in the form of a positive shoulder to lean on during rough days.
