An unimaginable work has just surfaced with the announcement of Veiled, a collaborative album that brings four amazing doujin circles together (self-published groups) in order to craft and complete five thematic pieces. It includes Imy (myu), Powerless Sounds (MuryokuP), ViViX (Godspeed), and ELFENSJóN (Keisuke Kurose). These artists are known for their work in BABYMETAL, the game Monster Hunter 3, and other notable anime and games.
The album Veiled will be available in a limited and regular edition but we’re expecting the limited edition to sell out quickly! You can get your hands on this release on March 1 through the event M3 or Melonbooks if you’re in Japan, with international sales taking place through Diverse Direct on March 2. Pre-order begins on February 23, 20:00 (JST).
The general theme of the album is “misery” and is described as the “ultimate collaboration exceeding imagination”. What you can expect is a mournful fantasy-like sound that not only warmly captures you emotionally but also energizes you—thanks to the unique mix of characteristics.
About Veiled, via the album page:
Bruno Valverde—the drummer of the band ANGRA who reigns over the South American metal world—breathed life into the assembly of these four singular entities by crystallizing them into one single soul. Taking charge of the mastering was “Bernie Grundman Mastering Tokyo”, a studio counting multiple Grammy Awards nominations.
Let’s take the veil off these four acts.
The doujin circles contributing to Veiled are Powerless, led by MuryokuP; ViViX, led by Godspeed, ELFENSJóN, led by Keisuke Kurose; and Imy, led by myu. Even if these names do not ring a bell, we’re quite sure you’ve come across their composed music through elsewhere.
MuryokuP
MuryokuP’s cinematic sound can be heard on BABYMETAL’s latest album METAL GALAXY in the intro of the track IN THE NAME OF. BABYMETAL concertgoers will also hear his symphonic music playing as background music at shows. MuryokuP typically produces symphonic, epic-like songs which ironically has a lot of power in it—considering his name translates to “Powerless”.
I am in charge of the fifth track “Anemone”. Vocals are interpreted by the well-known Kakichoco.
Godspeed
Masahiro “Godspeed” Aoki used to work for Capcom and provided music for Monster Hunter 3, Street Fighter V, Rockman “Megaman” Xover, and so much more! He’s known for his skillful and fast guitar playing and excels at instrumental songs.
In order to get the ultimate shock, summoning the best player in the world was evident. My song is the fourth one, “Frostbite”. Please have a listen, and take a peek at the reason of our excitement.
ELFENSJóN
ELFENSJóN’s Keisuke Kurose used to lead Asriel, and UROBOROS. So if you’ve seen the anime Rokka no Yusha, you probably also heard the opening song Black Swallowtail which UROBOROS provided. Or if you’ve seen Danganronpa 3, the opening song DEAD OR LIE is actually composed by Kurose even though it is performed by Maon Kurosaki and TRUSTRICK. Kurose’s music tends to lean towards a goth-like sound with a pinch of grief.
ELFENSJóN is in charge of the third song “BLANCNEIGE”!! The preview is now up so please go ahead and enjoy it!!
myu
myu performed in the new version of the iconic opening song Butter-Fly from anime Digimon tri, and a couple of THE IDOLM@STER songs too. He even plays the guitar in ELFENSJóN! myu’s music usually has a lot of punch in it with plenty of rebellious guitars.
Between the ton of information regarding Bruno and Bernie Mastering… Could you have a look at the guitar credits of the song “Unveil”? I would never imagined this day would come, where I would contribute to a song with twin lead guitars.
While each circle was in charge of their own respective song, they could not have been realized without the help of each other. The first track Unveil was for example arranged by MuryokuP and Godspeed, at the same time, the guitar work comes from Godspeed and myu.
As for the vocals, the second track Raindrop by myu features Aitsuki Nakuru, third track BLANCNEIGE by ELFENSJóN’s features okogeeechann, and the fifth track Anemone by MuryokuP features Kakichoco. You can find details of all the contributors via the new website which has been set up specifically for the release of Veiled.
