HYDE announced the special release of his single BELIEVING IN MYSELF as commissioned by Tokyo Marathon 2020 in the lead up to the event on March 1. The digital release of the single, which includes the title track only, will be available from February 26 while the CD release is set for a Japanese national release on March 18.
The commission was realized back in June 2019 after a particular conversation arose between HYDE and Tadaaki Hayano, the Race Director of Tokyo Marathon, during a meeting organized as a special event of JAAF RunLink–a project by Japan Association of Athletics Federations for realizing “Wellness Athletics”. Their talk led to HYDE’s confession that he was a secret runner, and through Hayano’s ideas of Fusion Running and how everyone has their own running style, he developed thoughts of fusing music with running. Following the event, Hayano commissioned HYDE to contribute a song inspired by Tokyo Marathon 2020 which was enthusiastically accepted.

The physical release will be distributed in a regular and limited-edition, with both editions including the two tracks BELIEVING IN MYSELF and INTERPLAY. The limited-edition will also include a DVD with the music videos for both singles and the documentary of BELIEVING IN MYSELF.
