LUNA SEA unveiled a new single called PHILIA accompanied by a short music video. This shows images of the MMORPG Eternal, in which LUNA SEA’s piece features as the theme song. Additionally, more details were disclosed in regards to their upcoming studio album. The title chosen is CROSS, and it has been set for a December 10 release date.
As previously reported, the band’s tenth effort counted with the co-production of six-time Grammy award winner Steve Lillywhite, and it celebrates their 30th anniversary. A special site is now open in order to gather all new information available on the album. Here we can find the music videos for the Mobile Suit Gundam opening themes Sora no Uta ~Higher and Higher~, and Hisobi, both title-tracks of their previous A-side single.
CROSS is being released in six editions! The regular edition comes with a CD containing 11 songs, including the aforementioned A-side single. Limited edition A adds a DVD featuring the full music videos for Sora no Uta ~Higher and Higher~, and Hisobi. Limited edition B comes with the regular CD, a second CD containing the digital single BEYOND THE TIME, and a DVD with the lyric video for Sora no Uta in Japanese, and English versions. Affiliated members of the LUNA SEA fan club, SLAVE, can also opt for two premium box editions that offer exclusive content. Finally, CROSS will also have a live-limited edition that can only be obtained at the band’s upcoming Christmas live. This edition includes a live CD with all 14 songs from the introduction to the 30th anniversary, last year’s LUNATIC X’MAS live Saitama Super Arena.
The song BEYOND THE TIME is a cover of TM Network’s song of the same name, and it was used as the third ending theme of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin – Advent of the Red Comet anime. TM Network’s original featured as the opening theme in the 1988’s Gundam film titled Char’s Counterattack.
Celebrations for the band’s 30th anniversary won’t end here, as there are even more important dates filled with LUNA SEA activities. The nearest event will come on Christmas holidays with a 2-day concert at the Saitama Super Arena to hold the LUNATIC X’MAS 2019 on December 21, and 22. Fast forward to February 2020, LUNA SEA will commence a lengthy national hall tour that will take them to 13 cities for a total of 26 performances.
