LUNA SEA provides Gundam theme songs "Sora no Uta ~Higher and Higher~" and "Hisobi"

Legendary band LUNA SEA will be releasing a double A-side single on May 29. The title-track Sora no Uta (宇宙の詩) ~Higher and Higher~ will serve as the opening song for the upcoming mecha anime, Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin – Eve of the Red Comet. The title of the second track Hisobi has also been announced as the second opening theme of the same series. There will be a third theme song to be expected as well which will also be provided by LUNA SEA. Additionally, SUGIZO will be producing the ending theme songs.

Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin – Eve of the Red Comet will premiere on April 29 on Japan’s primary public broadcasting network “NHK General TV”. Originally released as a 6-part film between 2015–2018, the story will now be cut and edited into a 13-episode series.

The single is now available for pre-order in three editions. The only difference comes down to their unique artwork which is provided by yet another legend, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, writer and illustrator of the Mobile Suit Gundam manga. The cover artwork for first press limited edition A comes with a Gundam illustration, while limited edition B comes with a LUNA SEA illustration. The content and price of all three editions are the same despite the limited availability of the first press editions.

This comes after the concerning news regarding Ryuichi Kawamura’s lung cancer which came out earlier this year. The singer has since been recovering patiently and experiencing positive results. It is also LUNA SEA’s first single in almost three years since the release of Limit back in June 2016, and their first audio material since their latest album LUV came out in December 2017.
