Zero[Hz] released their second album ZELM on February 27 and in its lead up, the band revealed not only artist photos and how many tracks we would be getting, but now we have a music video for the first track AXIZ!
Various graphics show up onscreen such as moving geometric shapes, a time-lapse of a cloudy sky and numbers counting up and down. The showy and bright sound effects return as previously illustrated in their song AGUL, but this time with mid-tempo riffs and drums alongside it.
However, that’s not all as they also uploaded a song preview trailer for ZELM showcasing their sound this time around! The outstanding tracks for me are Boku no Shiranai Boku, Shuuten Fuyuu, REDЯUM, IDEATRUMP, DRESS HOMUNCULUS and Dahlia.
ZELM is the band’s second album in less than a year which I feel is too short a time-frame for any band to be honest, especially as I wasn’t too impressed with their first album Rei Sensen. I think at this point, they know what direction they’re taking with their music and that’s fine.
On the plus side, you now have 20 or more songs to pull from but on the minus, we only got one taste of what was to come with single REDRUM. I felt like they found their feet here as it had catchy instrumentation that caught me completely off guard.
They’re really active and are promising so you can definitely expect a lot more to come from them! They also have time to evolve and plenty of potential, so who knows, this might all change at some point.
Have you listened to the ZELM already? What are your thoughts on it? Did you have any qualms with it or a pleasant encounter with the album? Tell us in the comments!
