lynch. has come back with a bang this year as the band not only celebrated their 13th anniversary at Makuhari Messe in March, they also welcomed back bassist Akinori. Since then, the band went on to release SINNERS -no one can fake my blood-, a compilation album of sorts with a retake on the basslines from Akinori’s interpretation. Now a few weeks into the release of their much-anticipated album XIII—the roman numerals for 13—out on July 11, we were finally able to hear the quintet’s latest offering!
There is definitely a distinct structure to XIII as the heavier and high energy songs are both at the former and latter half of the album. The middle, however, is where the ballads are situated. This mixed together along with everything else has illustrated the bands best side. Dare I say that this could be their most solid and consistent album to date? Especially when put against the likes of GALLOWS, and SHADOWZ. Overall, what seems to be the main feature here is vocalist Hazuki’s clean vocals.
It should be noted that former girugamesh drummer Ryo worked on the INTERLUDE for XIII, he has in the past also partaken in lynch.’s album AVANTGARDE for the introduction track AVANT GARDE.
If you haven’t gotten the album yet, definitely check out the preview below! You can immerse yourself even more by reading the song-by-song description given by Hazuki himself—although it is all in Japanese.
