One of the most important aspects of visual kei artists are the looks. In Visual Aesthetics, we will highlight specific hairstyles, costumes, accessories, makeup, body art and other styles which are either very common or stand out in this creative scene.

This week’s theme is: “Mysterious masks”!

Two of the most well-known masked Jrockers, may be bassist Reita (the GazettE) and guitarist Takemasa Kujou (Kiryu). They’ve been looking mysterious from the start of their careers as visual kei artists by always hiding part of their face, that we don’t even know what they look like underneath the masks. Others just do it as part of a certain look as it draws attention to the eyes. Being the only masked person among the other band members definitely stands out too.

Some other Jrockers who tried out mysterious masks are Chamu (Codomo Dragon), Zero (Gossip), both Mao and Mizuki (The THIRTEEN) and Ciela (Sioux).

There are probably more Jrockers that hide their face as part of their look, so feel free to share a picture and name in the comment section below!
