What does a super rock star do in his spare time? We all have high misconceptions of celebrities and rock stars spending thousands of dollars on dinners at expensive restaurants, driving a Lamborghini, or swimming in a pool of money. Sometimes, though, the reality is much more humble than that. Hyde, vocalist of the band L’Arc~en~Ciel and VAMPS, teaches us that rock stars also like to play at being the very best, like no one ever was, on the mobile augmented reality game, Pokemon GO.
In a publication by Japanese outlet Nikkan Gendai, it was reported on July 30 that one particular Pokemon GO player, among other enthusiasts of the game, had convened around the Roppongi area in Japan to collectively fight against the legendary ice bird, Articuno; one of the several legendary Pokemon recently launched into the game. In order to catch said legendary bird, players must head to a specific physical location and simultaneously battle the Pokemon—regardless of the team one may be in. If the group manages to defeat the powerful foe, each player gets a certain amount of white Pokeballs (Premier Balls) for a chance to catch the legendary Pokemon. Depending on their performance, they may receive lesser of a greater amount of Pokeballs.
It was at this arduous battle that a short man with pale skin and bleached hair was noticed, rapidly tapping his phone, trying his best to defeat the icy, winged beast. After a while, the man left with a satisfying look on his face, seemingly succeeding in capturing Articuno. To a surprise, it was at this point the realization of this man with short, bleached-hair was actually none other than Hyde!
This surely must have been a great sight to witness for anyone who knew who he was, and certainly, it is proof that “Hey, rock stars like to play Pokemon too”.
While we are not 100 percent certain that the man in question was actually Hyde, in our minds, we are still awaiting an Ash Ketchum cosplay from him. After all, he already cosplayed as Harley Quinn, so it’s not so far-fetched of a possibility!
