Did you know that guitarist Kyan Yutaka from our favourite air band Golden Bomber (ゴールデンボンバー) will be starring as the Monkey King, Goku from the famous Chinese tale Journey to the West? This story will be an adaptation of manga artist, Osamu Tezuka’s “Boku no Monkey King”.
The show titled “GOKU” has been in theatres since February 12 and will be showing till February 28 at the AiiA 2.5 Theatre Tokyo. For fans who would love to see this but can not due the the ocean dividing them, here will also be a DVD release of this on May 25!
For those who are not familiar with Journey to the West, it is an ancient Chinese novel about the legendary pilgrimage of the Buddhist monk Xuanzang who travels to the West to obtain sacred sutras. He has disciples are Son Goku (also known as Sun Wukong), Zhu Wuneng and Sha Wujing, together with a dragon prince who acts as Xuanzang’s steed, a white horse. It’s a very popular story, and we highly recommend you check out the other film adaptions of this story.
