Meet REIREI, the visual kei band dedicated to Nagoya’s community

Based in Nagoya, Japan, visual kei band REIREI is dedicated to giving back to their hometown. Combining their love for Nagoya with high-energy rock, REIREI tours the Tokai region while hosting events for the local community.

Bandmates guitarist Mero, vocalist Kurea, guitarist Kondo Ryoji, and drummer Imina often come together off-stage to give more than music to Nagoya. From leading street cleanings to tuna cutting for sushi events, REIREI has dedicated the past nearly two decades to giving back to their hometown. Often collaborating with local theaters, senior care facilities, and professional wrestling organizations, the band also holds affordable, bimonthly live shows for new and established fans alike.

REIREI is especially interested in spreading safety education to their many fans. In addition to being official ambassadors for the Nagoya Disaster Prevention Summit two years in a row, REIREI also composed a song for CPR training. This song was used in the Chiba Prefecture’s official CPR training video. For their efforts, REIREI received the Excellence Award at the 2025 AED Merit Awards, hosted by the Japan AED Foundation. The award was even personally presented by Her Imperial Princess Hisako of Takamado.

Recently, REIREI launched a crowdfunding campaign to install a publicly accessible AED at HOLIDAY NEXT NAGOYA, the band’s home venue. Within 24 hours, the band reached its goal, raising an overall total of 1,227,000 JPY (nearly 7,800 USD) by the campaign’s end. Due to the campaign’s tremendously fast success, further goals were added to install more AEDs at other music venues.

REIREI rocks not only in safety education, but on stage as well. In April, the band released their newest single, “Suehirogara-Knight” on streaming services. Check out the music video below!
