The rising band T.N.T (The Next Trigger) is set to hold a solo performance at Nippon Budokan on February 4, 2027. The performance is titled SUPERNOVA, which not only aligns with the theme of explosions the band uses but also perfectly explains their live performances, an explosion of immense energy.
T.N.T is fronted by vocalist Tegoshi Yuya (手越祐也), who previously held a position in the idol group NEWS (North East West South) before pursuing a solo career. This culmination of experience can be heard in the playful vocals all over T.N.T’s material.
Joining Tegoshi is drummer KYOHEY and bassist and violinist Furutatsu, who were both selected by YOSHIKI through an audition process. The most recent addition to the band is guitarist Ryu who further expands upon the musical range.
Nippon Budokan is highly recognized among both Japanese and overseas audiences alike and marks a significant achievement in T.N.T’s career. T.N.T provided a live video of Oboro (朧) from their first live tour, THE NEXT TRIGGER, to prepare fans for what’s to come for SUPERNOVA.
T.N.T’s first album, “DETONATION”
For anyone overseas unable to attend Budokan or for those who want more information before committing, T.N.T’s first album DETONATION showcases the band’s unique style. As the lineup would suggest, DETONATION provides strong and upbeat rock compositions with an idol charm sprinkled throughout.
The tracks that lean heavily towards the idol direction include Starting Over, SHINE, and Remember. Starting Over was T.N.T’s first single and is a highly addictive track with catchy vocals. SHINE and Remember are slower-tempo tracks, but despite that, they remain upbeat and playful. Another slower-tempo track on DETONATION is My Beautiful Moment, which overflows with emotion. Tracks such as HAITOKU (背徳), Leap of Faith, and Ro”kyun”roll showcase a more rock-dominant sound. Notably, during HAITOKU Tegoshi shares his rap vocals while Ryu delivers powerful metal-esque guitar riffs. Leap of Faith, on the other hand, has a heroic sound with background strings and lead guitar melodies with heavier elements provided by KYOHEY’s drums and Furutstsu’s bass. Ro”kyun”roll is one of T.N.T’s most packed songs, with so much to grab your ears; Ro”kyun”roll warrants multiple listens.
The music video for Ro”kyun”roll below also showcases the coming together of the band members’ experience in both the rock and idol worlds. Featuring fun and playful images of ice creams and neon cherry blossoms and, contrarily, showing Tegoshi erupt in flames, burning down the world around him as he sprouts black wings. The video is equally, if not more packed, than the track itself.
