Twenty years have passed since OLIVIA (Olivia Lufkin) released Wish, the opening theme for the hit romance anime NANA, based on Ai Yazawa’s beloved manga. Now, the singer has surprised fans by announcing a newly recorded version of the song, titled Wish -Reimagined-, set for digital release on March 18. Pre-save links for streaming and purchase are available now.

Originally released as Wish / OLIVIA inspi’ REIRA (TRAPNEST), the anime opening theme has been newly reinterpreted by OLIVIA. The updated track, Wish -Reimagined-, was arranged by rui (fade), who also co-wrote the original song with OLIVIA.

The release marks OLIVIA’s return to music after a 14-year hiatus, prompted by her recent reunion with rui. Beginning with Wish -Reimagined- on March 18, 2026, OLIVIA plans to follow the self-cover with new original material.

The announcement arrives amid renewed cultural interest in NANA. The series, which was an enormous cultural phenomenon in the 2000s, has recently seen its manga reissued in a 25th anniversary edition overseas. The reprint included an official collaboration version with British designer Vivienne Westwood, whose designs feature prominently throughout the story. In 2025, OLIVIA also traveled to Paris to celebrate NANA‘s 25th anniversary with fans at a meet-and-greet event hosted by Maison Otaku.

About OLIVIA

OLIVIA (Olivia Lufkin) is a multidisciplinary artist of Japanese and American heritage whose music is defined by its dreamy, atmospheric sound. Blending pop melodies with rock and other genres, her work often explores themes of vulnerability, romance, and pain while maintaining a delicate sense of optimism.

She first debuted in 1996 as part of the pop group D&D before launching her solo career as OLIVIA. In 1998, she collaborated with Tetsuya Komuro and Jean Michel Jarre on Together Now, the official theme song for the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

A major breakthrough came in 2006 with the singles A Little Pain and Wish, released under the project name “OLIVIA inspi’ REIRA (TRAPNEST)” for the anime NANA. In 2008, she collaborated with INORAN of LUNA SEA on the song Sailing Free, a theme featured in the video game Sengoku BASARA Battle Heroes.

In 2012, OLIVIA stepped away from the music industry following her marriage and the birth of her first son, relocating to San Francisco, CA. Now, with the 2026 release of Wish -Reimagined-, she returns to music after a 14-year hiatus.
